This is a highly experiential course which will be a journey of discovery in relation to self and others. Each group develops its own character and influences which impact on the individuals within the group; commonly in each group a theme emerges which is relevant to all participants.
Facilitating a group can often be tricky, intense and challenging always inspiring and rewarding. Group facilitators can often finds themselves the object of the transferences and projections of the group members.
The course aims to draw out each participant’s inimitable ability and enhance their confidence in facilitating therapeutic groups.
The above aims will be achieved through self and group exploration and participants will be able to develop their individual capability to use ‘self’ as a tool that empowers self and others within the group setting and through the use of the group as a whole.
Course materials and Handouts will be given weekly with weekly tasks to complete to ensure readiness for the subsequent session. You will choose a Personal Tutor with whom you can specifically discuss issues arising on a 1:1 on request, but this is not a mandatory requirement of the course.
